I had already been at the point of creating new things before the start of the conference (Imaging USA) but as you can imagine when I got back from that it really was information overload. At first I was just considering creating new materials to go along with my look, and personalizing that look a bit more with a few graphic details. When I got back from the conference all of a sudden I considered something completely new. New can mean anything. Anything is too much. When I started my photography business, I really didn’t know what my style was or where I wanted to go. I was just starting out. Now that I’m two years down the road, not only do I have experience but I have a clearer direction of where I want to go and who I am as a photographer. Does that mean I need to change everything? I’m not sure. Also, I started down the slippery slope of comparing myself to other photographers, so there I was sitting at my computer looking up every photographer and wedding blog I could find… getting side tracked occasionally to look at a collection of wedding dresses or save the dates (I am already married, right?) and then designing multiple options for my business materials to decide which direction to go in. Taking who you are and what your business is and translating that into something visual is an overwhelming task.

Today I’m taking the day off from working on it, so I’m going to stop writing about it as well to give myself a break. Meanwhile I’ll be finishing up Nita + Matt’s wedding which you can expect more of soon!
