Matt and I had a great time in Baltimore today – running the half marathon and enjoying a bit of the city. Overall I’d give the whole event a good rating – let’s say 4 stars – although it was my first half so I don’t have much experience on the 1/2+marathon circuit. We only had our phones with us, so here are a few pics of – the harborview from our hotel, us after the race, and the delicious cap’n crunch french toast I had after the race. We had to walk pretty far to Blue Moon Cafe for the french toast after the race but it really was delicious and quite the experience. Baltimore as a whole seems to be on the eclectic side – but it’s a great city and it’s always fun to have an event that brings you to a new place.

After traveling out to New Jersey for Matt + Lisa’s wedding, I spent the afternoon in Baltimore with Kaylan (who second-shot the wedding with me). We had some time before her flight and wanted to explore the city and the waterfront. It was a gorgeous day, and although we walked several miles and we were hot and tired by the end of the day it was totally worth it. With my camera in hand we had some fun documenting parts of the city, and a few stood out that I thought I’d share.

We were walking around where there is a walkway combined with several fountains (I’m having a hard time describing it, forgive me) and you could walk underneath the man made waterfall and look out through the water. So, I stood in that spot behind the waterfall and shot out to capture some interesting colors and backgrounds that are wonderfully blurred by the movement of the water. If you’ve seen some of my work from my college years you can probably see some correlation – it really wasn’t planned, I guess I am drawn to composing like this and the images just happened.

It was nice to see the city a bit since I’ll be heading back to Baltimore early October for the “Baltimore Running Festival” which includes several races including the half marathon, which I’ll be running. Yikes! I better keep training. I haven’t been great at updating, but I have been using Daily Mile for a log to keep track of my training. Anyone else on that? It seems to be good although it seems to be strictly for running/cycling and you can’t add in yoga (which I occasionally do) as easily and track that progress. Who knows, I’m new to it so if you know better set me straight. Anyone else running some races this fall? I’d love to know + good luck with the training.
