MARY

maryWhen we talk on the phone or meet for the first time, I won’t sound like I’m from Virginia. I grew up in Michigan, outside of Detroit, and spent several years in New York attending school and working so I have a somewhat northern accent – if you want to call it that. Growing up, it was clear that I had an artistic side but it wasn’t until high school when I started studying film photography that I saw my potential as an artist and photographer.

I received one of those well rounded liberal arts educations that I’m thankful to have now, with all of the challenges of owning my own business. After college I worked as a graphic designer for a while before returning to photography and starting my own business.

I’m now in my third year of business and love telling the stories and documenting the lives of the people I meet. My photography revolves around capturing people naturally  and beautifully. My background in art definitely influences my work and I photograph in a documentary and fine art style that includes color, vibrancy and life. I use experience and creativity, to capture beautiful photos; I will instruct you when necessary, to get the shot; and I will be there to document, without getting in the way. I absolutely love what I do and can’t wait to hear from you and work with you.

Just as I’ve always been an artist I’ve also always been an athlete. After competing in college I’ve continued my athletic pursuits to include triathlons in addition to track and road races and enjoy going to races and training with my husband. You might also find us at the farmers market, picking up fresh ingredients for our next meal, as we love to cook and spend time together doing so. Our somewhat adventurous life and my work as a photographer is documented on this blog, so stop by and see what I’ve been up to, as long as you leave a few comments along the way.
