best friends / worst enemies

dogplay00 best friends / worst enemies

It took a while for Matt to convince me that we needed two dogs. Yes, I agreed, they would have each other… but we would still have one more dog to take care of. We had one easy to transport mini dachshund who could come on road trips and hide in a bag as we snuck her in to hotels… how would we live with two?

How could we not live with two, he said.

They would play with each other, keep each other company and be best friends. When we weren’t at home they wouldn’t get lonely. I only relented when I agreed that he could give me a dog for Christmas, and he took that chance. If you can believe it, when I opened that cardboard box on the floor and saw the plump little puppy I would name Leo for a few hours and Jasper for every hour after that, one of my first thoughts was “he’s not as cute as Lexi!” (I must have been blind, because he was adorable) I already loved Lexi and didn’t want to have a new dog take her spot.

Now I can’t imagine life without two dogs.

Jasper and Lexi are best friends. You would know that when you see them curled up in the dog bed keeping each other warm or giving each other baths after being out in the rain. However, if you’ve seen them play you might think they are worst enemies. It looks like they’re out for blood, but it’s all fun and games.

arrynvogan - Sooo cute! My family started with one, then we had two, and now we have three mini dachshunds! They truly are the best dogs! We got three from breeding them. Gypsy and Otto had three litters and Truman was one of the puppies we kept! They love each other and ours look like they hate each other when they play too at times! :) Hopefully one day Andrew and I will get one. Gypsy’s third litter was specifically for Andrew and I to have a puppy but our land lord said “no”. :( My dream would be to have a mini dachshund and a great dane!

Mary Dougherty - oh arryn a mini D + great dane would be awesome. I wonder what J+L’s puppies would have looked like but we took away that possibility a long time ago :)
