the field behind the church.

lovely

The unexpected places are often the best ones. Of course, by now you expect these places out of me… but most people don’t consider the field behind the church, the parking lot, the alleyway, or the colorful wall at the back of the building when I talk to them about locations. They’ve passed the location so many times that is difficult to see it in a new light, and yet that is exactly what I look for. Those locations invite creativity and something new. They are unexplored and natural. Often unrefined they require that people let go and embrace the wedding day. Remember how they got there, what they are celebrating, and the amazing gift they are giving each other… and in the end the images are such a better depiction of the love they have for each other, or at least that’s what I think.

Mary Dougherty - sarah that’s so sweet of you to say – sounds like an interesting book and I’ll have to check it out!

Sarah Morgan - I’ve been reading this book called, “Visual Poetry” by Chris Orwig. I love how he talks about doing the unexpected and going for what’s beyond the lens… that’s what you do. I’m drawn to your work and style because it’s so unexpected – and yet very natural, the details are captivating, making me want to see more. I appreciate being able to look at your work as a beginner in this field, and learn from you!
