I did my first maternity shoot… of my sister! I’m so happy I had the chance to shoot the photos, especially because she’s due in two weeks (it’s hard to believe it’s that soon). We don’t live in the same state, so it worked out perfectly to do the shoot over thanksgiving; of course I can’t wait to go back for Christmas and meet the baby. Look out for a LOT of newborn photos of my nephew or niece – no one knows if it will be a boy or girl, they’re waiting to be surprised. Anyways back to Sarah, who was so radiant and it shows in the photos:

Her eyes are so blue! It’s crazy because although you can definitely tell we’re sisters, we both have traits from different sides of the family which means a lot of different features. One of the things I love about these photos is how genuine they are – and I think I had an advantage since I know Sarah so well to begin with. You can tell how the relationship between the subject and the photographer can make a big difference in the type of photos that are captured. Since I obviously am not just photographing my family all the time, I like to establish a friendship with my clients so that we can have the same level of comfort in their photos.

Hi Mom + Dad! Ryan and Sarah are going to be great parents and I hope I get to visit enough to see the baby growing up and to be the fun aunt… I only have 1 other aunt to compete with and they’re currently in Washington so I think I’m safe :]. I love you guys!
